In-Game Text
Radiative (sic) emissions from the Neutron Star make sensor readings of this sector unreliable. Ships which enter the sector may be damaged or destroyed by the Neutron Star's magnetic field.
Notes
Scan Strength is reduced by 8 in a sector with a neutron star.
Any ship that begins a turn in a sector with a neutron star will suffer 225 points of damage, applied first to shields and then to hull points.
Cloaked ships will still be protected by their full shield strength.
Modding
The damage value is listed in two places in trek.exe:
The value at 0x6B104 (4 bytes) is used to check if a ship is completely destroyed by the neutron star.
The value at 0x6B1A5 (4 bytes) is used to determine damage (if any) to a ship that survives the encounter.
