Scout

Small, agile craft with long range sensors to explore the galaxy or keep tabs on your neighbors. When present in combat, these ships provide extra details about the enemy, but don't last long if subject to attack.

Destroyer

Small, agile craft with greater combat effectiveness, these ships serve three main roles: hit-and-run attacks against weak targets, stealing credits from an enemy by raiding, or protecting your empire by intercepting enemy intruders.

Cruiser

The workhorse of your fleet, these ships are usually larger and slower, but excel in combat with extra offensive weaponry and extended defensive capabilities. Capable of defending against enemy fleets, eliminating enemy fortifications, or leading a planetary assault.

Strike

These ships trade speed and defensive strength for extra firepower. Their extra torpedo launchers make attacks on enemy systems more effective, if they can get past any orbital defenses.

Command

The pride of your fleet, these ships are the pinnacle of your empire's research is ship-building. These enhanced cruisers excel in combat, but are also more expensive than their predecessors.

Colony Ship

Though unarmed, these ships are necessary for almost all peaceful expansion, with the ability to terraform lifeless planets and start new colonies in empty systems,

Troop Transport

Also unarmed, these ships are necessary for aggressive expansion, providing the troops necessary to construct military outposts, upgrade these stations into starbases, or invade enemy systems to seize control of resources.
